CLERK

With the election year upon us, and changes made by the State, I felt the following information may be of benefit to you, the residents of Hamlin Township.  First, and foremost, you may want to find out if you are registered in Hamlin Township to vote.  By clicking on the link below, you can find out if you are a registered voter and which Congressional District you are in.  There is also a link on that page which allows you to view the ballot that you will be voting on in the upcoming elections.

   -   Am I Registered to Vote?

If you have not yet registered to vote, you may follow the link below:

   -   Voter Registration Information

- New Voter Registration ID Cards
Due to redistricting, which the law requires to happen every 10 years
following the census, some Hamlin Township residents will be
experiencing a change in Congressional Districts from District #2 to
District #1.  All Hamlin Township residents will be in County
Commissioner District #3 and in the 3rd District for the State Court of
Appeals; and, beginning in 2015, all of Mason County will be in the 35th
State Senate District.  New voter registration ID cards will be mailed out
in July.  I will be working in conjunction with Michigan Election Resources
  in this process.

- HB 4992 (PA 128):  Removal of Instructions from Ballot
On May 11, 2012, Governor Snyder signed House Bill 4992 into law, and
it has been assigned Public Act 128 of 2012.  The law has immediate effect,
meaning these requirements must be implemented in conjunction with the
August 7, 2012 Primary.   The new law eliminates the requirement that
instructions be printed on the ballot and now requires that ballot instructions
be printed on the ballot secrecy sleeve or enclosed in a clear plastic pocket
on the front of the ballot secrecy sleeve.  The ballot instructions to be used
are written in statute for primary elections, general elections, nonpartisan
  elections, and special elections.
